Law ruled — also called legal ruled — is the same line spacing as wide ruled school paper, 11/32 of an inch, with a vertical margin line down the left. It is the ruling of the legal pad, and it earned the name because lawyers took their notes on it.
The pads themselves are usually yellow and 8.5 × 14 inches, but the ruling is what makes them useful: generous lines for fast handwriting and a margin for dates, initials and follow-ups. Print this on canary paper for the full effect, or on white — the lines are the same.
