The temptation is to print ruled lines at a comfortable writing height and a grid at a convenient spacing, and let them fall where they may. The result looks like two sheets printed on top of each other. Here the grid spacing is always a whole division of the writing ruling, so every writing line lands exactly on a grid line and the page reads as one thing.
